Sinan Earrings - Rubellite
A pair of one carat natural rubellites, round cut, set in 18k rose gold and ringed each by a halo of VVS natural diamonds. Rubellite is the pink-to-red variety of tourmaline; against rose gold it reads warm even on a cool morning. Each earring is engraved with a mashrabiya motif behind the setting, geometry borrowed from the carved screens of Islamic architecture. The earrings are named for Mimar Sinan, the 16th century Ottoman architect of Süleymaniye and Selimiye, whose pattern vocabulary runs through the collection. Hand applied pink enamel deepens the stones. Worn with a low neckline they sit at the jaw, with hair up they catch light from below the ear.
