Sinan Pendant - Rubellite
A one carat natural rubellite, round cut, set in 18k rose gold and circled by a halo of VVS natural diamonds. Rubellite is the pink-to-red variety of tourmaline; against rose gold it reads warm even in cool light. The body carries an engraved mashrabiya motif, geometry borrowed from the carved screens of the Islamic world. The pendant is named for Mimar Sinan, the chief Ottoman architect who built Süleymaniye and Selimiye, whose vocabulary of pattern shapes the line. Hand applied pink enamel deepens the rose of the stone. The pendant releases from its chain and clips onto another as a charm, so the piece moves with the day it is wearing.
